Seattle and Wenatchee, Washington

Hadley and I headed up to Washington state to see Chris at his dental rotation in Wenatchee. We spent two days in Seattle before we drove to Wenatchee. In Seattle, we went to Pike Place where we saw the fish market and ate at Beecher's handmade cheese. We also went down to Ivar's fish and chips and fed the seagulls just like I did when I was in Young Ambassadors at BYU. Hadley loved it and really enjoyed listening to the street performers in Pike Place. We also stopped by the Space Needle.

When we got to Wenatchee, we spent time in Leavenworth which is a town that is all German themed. We went to the taffy shop, ate at a delicious burger cafe, and put our feet in the Columbia River. Even though we had to take Hadley to the doctor to check for an ear infection, we got to spend so much great time together. We hadn't seen Chris in two weeks and took advantage of every minute we had with him. Hadley slept horribly every night since she is teething and wanted to be in her crib, but Chris and I were just happy to all be together again.

We were very sad to leave Chris, but he gets to come home to us in 8 days! Hadley is growing up so much and will be crawling any day now (which I don't want). Tarzan has been going great as well and we only have 3 more weekends left. I feel like it has gone by so fast and I will be sad when it ends. Family has come down to Arizona to help watch Hadley while I do shows and we have had a lot of fun with them. Markae came down for a weekend and got Hadley a new toy, book, and outfit. We were sad to see her go.

We are looking forward to having two more cousins when Lexi and Whitney have their baby girl and boy in the next two months. We also can't wait to spend time in California with the Evans' in September. Until then, we will endure the terrible heat of Arizona.

Tarzan and more...

Chris has been so wonderful with watching Hadley while I have been rehearsing and performing in Tarzan at Hale Centre Theatre. We just opened last weekend to a full house, and I can't tell you how much I have missed being on stage and performing. The show is a lot of fun, and it is good for me to take some time for myself. Although it isn't my favorite role that I have played, I love doing it every single night.

Chris left for Wenatchee, Washington this past Saturday for his second dental rotation. It is 5 weeks long, but Hadley and I are going to fly up in two weeks to visit him for a few days. Life without him is so boring! It has only been three days and we already can't wait to have him come home even though it's not for quite some time.

My rehearsals got canceled two weekends ago and my whole family was getting together in St. George for the 4th of July. So, Hadley and I jumped in the car and headed up there last minute. We spent two days there and had so much fun swimming and hanging out with the cousins. Hadley is really starting to love the water and being with her cousins. We went and saw the Disney movie Inside Out with all the kids, went shopping with the girls, and swam over at the Sink's house. I am so happy that we went up.

Chris was in Mexico at the time for a dental service trip. He said that he learned a lot by going and had a lot of fun. The clinic was very small and unsanitary though. Patients sat in lawn chairs to be worked on, and all cleaning policies and procedures pretty much didn't exist. There was limited medicine and tools to use, but one day they saw over 100 patients! They even had dinner at the home of the leader of the Drug Cartel in that area. Apparently he has them over every year as a thank you to the students for doing work on him and his family. Strange, I must admit. They spent their last two days at a resort, and we are pretty sure Chris broke his toe playing sand football.

Life is good. We are very happy and can't believe that we will be leaving Arizona in less than a year. It will be very hard to leave. Harder than we thought. Until then, we are enjoying every minute we can with the friends we have made here - even if it is 110 degrees almost every day!

Provo Dental Rotation

Chris set up a Summer dental rotation at Moutainland Health Center where he shadowed Dr. Booth during his undergrad at BYU. Instead of staying here at the clinic in Arizona, Chris set this one up in Provo and got it approved. We were able to stay in Salt Lake for almost a whole month and spend such great quality time with family and friends.

Chris and I also celebrated our 6th wedding anniversary on May 30th. We left Hadley with Chris' parents, went to dinner, and then had a couples massage at Sanctuary Spa. It was a great anniversary and the time has flown by. Chris and I have known each other for 12 years now.

Chris was able to do a lot of great things with his family while he was in Salt Lake since he had Fridays off. He went fishing with his Grandpa, Dad, and Kallen; golfed with his dad, Kallen, Jordan Stewart, and of course the Poor Man's Golf Tournament (Scot, Kurtis, and JR); and we even went mini golfing with Kallen, Jordan, and John Ericson and just kept Hadley in the Ergobaby carrier. She was awesome and loved every second. When Chris was golfing at Nibley with his family, Kallen got a hole-in-one! It was a pretty exciting moment for everyone.

Over Memorial Day weekend, we drove out to Elko, Nevada to meet the Tophams. We all didn't want to drive the entire way, so we met in the middle for just one night. We swam for a bit at the hotel, had Basque food (which was awesome!), played games, went to church, and had a great time together. The hotel was so nice and it made the trip that much better. We can't wait to see the Tophams again in September when we go to Disneyland.

It rained a lot while we were up in Utah, and Chris and I loved every second of it! Everyone else hated it. One night, the rain gutter above my parents kitchen window was clogged and caused the window to leak. Before cleaning out the gutter, Chris created a contraption that would catch all the water and put it in the sink. I was pretty impressed

Our trip was filled with a lot of days to the zoo, hanging out with cousins, playing guitar with Grandpa, and enjoying Sunday dinners with family. Although it was so much fun, our last day was a very hard one. Poor little Stuart was very sick and was in kidney failure when they took him in to the vet. He was in so much pain and was always confused where he was. The vet told Chris' family that it would be best to put him down that day. So, we said our tearful goodbyes and looked to each other for support when Stuart slipped away. It was very sad, but it was peaceful at the same time knowing that he was out of pain and free of his suffering.

We finally made it home to Arizona and it is good to be back. It is already painfully hot, but hopefully the monsoon season will come sooner than later.
